Who We Are
The story, purpose and people behind the Igbinedion Education Centre Class of 2000 Alumni Association.
As set out in our Constitution, IECY2K exists to:
IECY2K is governed by three bodies working together: the General Assembly (all registered members), the Executive Committee (day-to-day administration), and the Board of Trustees (legal and strategic oversight).
IECY2K is registered with Nigeria's Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as an Incorporated Trusteeship.
Sixteen years after graduation, Osato Igbinovia created a WhatsApp group to reconnect our class. Under the banner of the Votu-Maureen Foundation, the group ran several impactful projects before participation gradually declined and the group went quiet.
Following repeated calls from members to bring the group back, a spontaneous virtual meeting of classmates unanimously agreed to revive the association and build a formal structure — including an interim Chairman and a Welfare Committee to keep members connected.
Our Constitution — drafted by Christian Chukwuma and reviewed by the General Secretary and General Assembly — was formally adopted. At the same meeting, members resolved to register the association with the Corporate Affairs Commission as an Incorporated Trusteeship.
A transparent election, overseen by independent election monitors, produced our first Executive Committee and Board of Trustees under the revived structure — serving the 2025 & 2026 term.
IECY2K's registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as an Incorporated Trusteeship was completed, and our official CAC certificate was issued.
A dedicated task force was established to design and implement a mentorship framework for current Igbinedion Education Centre students — covering professional guidance, character development and leadership training.
Over 67 members have formally registered, out of an estimated 150 alumni from our set. The General Assembly meets virtually every first Saturday of the month, and we're actively reconnecting with more classmates across Nigeria and the diaspora.
